Do I need private health insurance?

Newcomers to Ontario must wait three months before they can be covered by Ontario Health Insurance (OHIP). During this three-month waiting period, OHIP does not pay for the medical services of newcomers, but they can buy private health insurance to help pay for treatments during that time.
