Book a workshop: Supporting patients with health‑harming legal needs
These workshops:
- Are typically offered online but may be available in person
- Usually require a minimum of 10-15 participants for virtual workshops and 15-20 for in-person, but can be delivered to one or more organizations at a time
- Can be customized for the organization(s)
In this workshop, health care providers will build their knowledge and skills to help low-income patients address health-harming legal needs. These might be needs related to safe and stable housing, accessing income support, family violence, unsafe working conditions, or other legal matters that can impact health. Knowing how to identify a potential legal issue and how to respond effectively can help prevent problems from getting worse.
Online workshops are typically scheduled for 60-90 minutes. In-person workshops offer greater opportunities for collective work and can be booked for up to 3 hours. While we do our best to accommodate all requests, availability for in-person workshops is limited.
The workshop will cover:
- Understanding and identifying health-harming legal needs
- Sharing sources of reliable legal information
- Understanding free and low-cost legal services in Ontario
- Making appropriate referrals to legal services
