Downtown Legal Services (DLS) is a community legal clinic operated by the Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto. It offers free legal services to low-income residents of Toronto and to University of Toronto students. Legal services are provided by law students working under the close supervision of staff lawyers. DLS provides assistance to financially eligible clients in the following areas of law: criminal law, employment law, family law, refugee and immigration law and tenant housing.  We also assist University of Toronto students with academic appeals and offences.

Update September, 2016 - Low income individuals as well as full-time students at the University of Toronto can receive free legal advice and representation on matters including wrongful dismissals, breaches of the Employment Standards Act, discrimination under the Human Rights Code, and denial of regular Employment Insurance benefits following dismissal.
