Legal Aid Ontario (LAO) provides legal help to people in Ontario with very low incomes. One way LAO helps is by giving people who qualify a legal aid certificate. A legal aid certificate covers the cost of a private lawyer to work on a person's legal problem for a certain number of hours.
LAO certificates are an essential resource that many people with low incomes rely on to get legal help in Ontario.
This session covers:
- the services LAO certificates cover
- who qualifies and how to apply
- the types of legal issues covered
- the limits of LAO certificates
- common challenges
Speakers:
Tania Princz-Lebel, Staff Lawyer, Connecting Ottawa
