Recorded on March 22, 2010 - This webinar, presented by Margaret Capes, Legal Education Coordinator of Community Law School (Sarnia-Lambton) Inc., focuses on the bane of many an automobile owner: motor vehicle repairs. While there are many reputable repair facilities, not all repair shops adhere to the consumer disclosures and protections mandated by the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002. We will look at issues such as repair estimates, rate disclosures, warranties, and invoicing for repairs. We will review consumer remedies and dos-and-don'ts when faced with an unsatisfactory repair job or unexpected repair bill. Finally, we will learn about the important protections that the Act contains for consumers with regard to motor vehicle repairs and how to exercise those rights.
