Explaining the New Divorce Act

Recorded on August 27, 2019 - Earlier this year, the federal government passed major amendments to the Divorce Act. This webinar explores those changes, especially as they relate to how arrangements for the children will be made, in the context of family violence. It will discuss the new language that replaces the terms custody and access, the best interests of the child test and the definition of family violence.

About the presenter

Pamela Cross is a feminist lawyer; a well-known and respected expert on violence against women and the law for her work as a researcher, writer, educator and trainer. She is the Legal Director of Luke’s Place Support and Resource Centre in Durham Region, where she leads the organization’s provincial projects, including research, training and advocacy.
