Navigating the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP): Part 1: Income and Reporting Obligations

Recorded on November 24, 2022

The Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) provides income and employment support to people with disabilities. Understanding the program's many rules and obligations can be difficult, particularly for those collecting other benefits like Canada Pension Plan (CPP) or who are working while on ODSP.

This webinar gives community workers information about income and reporting obligations while on ODSP. It also discusses how clients can deal with overpayment decisions and get support with the appeal process.

Speakers:

Anum Malik, Staff Lawyer, Scarborough Community Legal Services
Elsie Dickson, Staff Lawyer, Jane Finch Community Legal Services

Corrections:

At the 10:00 minute point and the 26:49-minute point in the recording, Anum Malik discusses earnings exemptions for full-time students but would like to clarify that for ODSP purposes, earnings are exempt for all full-time high school and post-secondary students in a benefit unit. The PowerPoint slide titled “Reporting Earnings” has been updated on December 2, 2022, to reflect this correction/update.

NOTE: We have provided a handout on important resources and supports from the webinar in PDF form below, along with the recording and PowerPoint slides.
