This best practices guide canvasses a variety of successful PLEI projects around the world and emphasizes the importance of conceptualizing PLEI as extending beyond the provision of legal information to include the capacity to act on it. Despite the focus on equality based PLEI, the observations are relevant to all PLEI work. The latter requires designers of PLEI projects to identify the skills and capacities required in order to act on the legal issues they confront. Some communities might be more susceptible to non-traditional delivery methods such as community theatre, music, etc. Authors urge PLEI practitioners to share with colleagues the successes and lessons learned in order to improve the overall quality of PLEI. Also important is encouraging collective action when confronting legal issues.
