The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC) is an arm's length agency of government accountable to the Legislature through the Attorney General. The Commission's mandate under the Code includes: promoting a culture of human rights; conducting public inquiries; initiating its own applications (formerly called "complaints"); intervening in proceedings at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario (HRTO); focusing on engaging in proactive measures to prevent discrimination using public education, policy development, research, and analysis.
