National Day Against Homophobia is an international event initiated and promoted by Fondation Émergence of Quebec in 2003. Since its recognition by the World Health Organization, the World Day Against Homophobia is May 17. The goal is social acceptance of homosexuality, through the eradication of homophobia and the acceptance and celebration of the gay and lesbian members of society.
