Law Society of Ontario (LSO)

The Law Society of Ontario, formerly called the Law Society of Upper Canada, regulates the lawyers and paralegals of Ontario in the public interest. The Law Society ensures every individual who practises law or provides legal services in Ontario meets appropriate standards of learning, professional competence, and professional conduct.

The Law Society has a duty to protect the public interest, to maintain and advance the cause of justice and the rule of law, to facilitate access to justice for the people of Ontario, and to act in a timely, open and efficient manner.
